Wagamama

A classic. I think that we have all been here at least once. Wagamama greatly varies in quality depending on the location, so it is always a risk, but when it hits, it really hits. It can be one of the best value eating out experiences going, but is can also be one of the worst. Lets dive in and see if this is shit.

The entrance to the Wagamama's in Canary Wharf

Today we are going to be looking at the Wagamama in the Canary Wharf shopping centre. Yes I know it not exactly the most amazing location in the world but fuck it some of the best food spots in the world are the least expected. Let’s have a look and see if this applies here (it doesn’t).

Starting with the katsu curry; first impressions are good. For the price the presentation really isn’t too bad. The rice was really quite good, and there was lots of it. It was seriously soft, and full of flavour. The curry itself was nice, a really solid addition to the rice. The quantity of rice and curry were very well balanced also, making for a hearty meal. It wasn’t anything mind-blowing but it was really pretty good.

Wagamama's pad thai

It’s a shame that I cant be quite as complimentary about this dish. It felt like getting a pad thai off of ebay, it sort of looks like pad thai but just tastes like plastic. The biggest compliment I can give to this is that it was warm and not overly expensive. It was fine.

Finishing off with the bao buns. I can’t really say anything more than .. fine? they were a little overpriced, that’s it really. Defiantly an avoid in my books.

Conclusion – Wagamama

Look, you knew coming into this it wasn’t going to be the restaurant of the year, but at the same time it wasn’t bad (which is also probably what you expected). If you are hungry and need food, you wont be angry if you come here. Whatever you do don’t go during the lunch rush hour, screaming kids are a sure fire way to ruin your dining experience. God I don’t know, it’s ok, leave me alone.
