Blacklock is absolutes becoming a stable for Londoners. You hear it mentioned pretty frequently in the city, and getting a reservation can be really tough. So does this mean it is a good place to spend your time and money? Let’s see.
Blacklock in Canary Wharf is in a very strange location. It is literally underneath the DLR train tracks which makes it a very noisy. Rest assured that once you are in there you can’t really hear the train. oddly enough you can feel it when it rumbles overhead, I quite like it to be honest. There is a great view of canary wharf just outside, therefore defiantly a location worth visiting.
The Starters. Oh, my god. These were phenomenal. Whilst they may seem like an odd selection of flavors for a steak house, each individual bite is an absolute pleasure. I don’t want to say too much about it as it is something that needs to be experienced first hand. And by the way, its £3 for a platter .. The best value for flavor I have ever seen.
The menu, whilst not extensive is perfect (for meat eaters). It will have something for you. I decided to go with the mixed platter to start off with, just to see what it was all about. I will tell you what it is all about, it’s all about quality ingrediencies and plenty of flavor. If you come here for the first time this is what I think you should go for to sample a little bit of everything.
The dips were something to behold. They were all so varied it was almost impossible to decide what to have. NOT ONLY THAT but the waitress decided to give us some free ones just to see what we would want next time. I mean what more could you want. That was the garlic and bone marrow dip. Gorgeous.
When you have a massive pile of meat, you would expect to want a little bit of health. Well luckily Blacklock offer some, and just like the meats they are incredible. I don’t think you can go wrong here, it doesn’t matter what you buy, you will be pleased.
Conclusion – Blacklock
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had, period. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left I felt looked after, treated and best of all, not charged an unfair amount for it. The service was impeccable, as was the food and the interior of the restaurant. Since writing this review I have been back here three times, and I will be going back again.
