Korean restaurants and Korean cuisine in general has really taken off in the past few years. I have seen quite a good few restaurants open up in London recently, 3 KoBros being one of them. But are they any good?
The inside of 3 KoBros, quite a small arrangement with tables really quite close to one another. None the less as restaurants go its pretty good, cleanliness is not an issue what so ever and never is. My only real criticism is that if you offer small plates and encourage people to order multiple dishes, you need enough table space.
Kimchi and tofu, a classic combo. The kimchi was fantastically sharp, with an excellent level of heat. the tofu was not quite as strong, pretty flavorless and a bit gloopy. If this was just the kimchi and a little cheaper, I would recommend it as an essential.
The rice side. it was fine, and that is being generous. The best part about it is that it had an aromatic flavor, but even then it was pretty weak. As it was free (I think), I cant complain too much. If I was in-fact charged for this, I rescind all of my mildly complimentary words.
The fried chicken was the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. This really was incredible, it’s greasy but that i just the nature of the beast. Everting about this was full of flavor, the chicken and the batter both bursting with flavor. So crunchy, so so delicious.
The octopus balls and the gyoza. Both of these were great. Having them both together works well, it gives you a proper understanding of how well two very different dishes can both be almost perfectly crafted. I wish that they made the menu a little smaller and just stuck with the items (such as these) which are excellent.
Conclusion – 3 KoBros
One of many Korean places that are opening up all across London, but unfortunately this one isn’t quite up to scratch. It could be fantastic, but the high prices and a menu that varies enormously in quality, your money is better spend elsewhere. I have been to this place three times, and it seems to get a little more expensive, and a little worse every time.
