I came here about 3 years ago when it first opened. I was going to see Neutral Milk Hotel at their last gig ever in London, and needed some food beforehand. It was the first day that Sushi Masa was open, I sat and watched as my food was prepared in-front of me. Three years later, its still open and thriving. So lets see how it holds up today.
The entrance, a really nicely kept place, totally spotless with a really nice minimalistic style. Nothing to focus on other that the preparation of the food, and most importantly, the eating of it.
First course. Every part of this was beautiful. Look at the presentation of it, you can see how fresh everything is on this plate. I have never tasted salmon that is this fresh, ever. I think the wasabi itself was real, although I am not entirely sure, but that is on me. I cant imagine a better way to start a meal than this.
Jellyfish Salad. Wow. I am sure that I saw that jellyfish have no nutritional value, so I assumed that it wouldn’t’ve have any flavor, how wrong I was. This was superb, I have never experienced a texture like it. The flavor of course was incredible, a slightly pickly yet sweet sensation, excellent.
An assortment of sushi. Every time i put a piece in my mouth I would have to close my eyes and try to savor every single bite. I couldn’t believe how good this was, honestly, I can’t believe that food can taste this good. It is experiences like this that inspire me to write these entries, to encourage you to have these experiences too.
It just keeps coming. Every time a new plate would come my way I would have the same child-like joy and anticipation. Every single piece is varied and beautiful,. As I am writing this I am longing for just one more bite. Everything was so tender and fatty, the fish and meat just falls apart in your mouth.
Conclusion – Sushi Masa
This is one of the, if not the best meal I have ever had in my life. Every single item, every single grain of rice, just everything was perfect. The fact that this place wasn’t totally full of people was good for me, but totally baffling. There are so many over-priced places that serve you sub-par food at a premium which are filled with people. If you want a meal out, come here. I don’t care how long it takes you, you need to come here as a priority.
