If you have ever visited the City of London around lunchtime you would have seen one of two things. Either someone walking around with a Birleys bag, or the staggeringly big queue outside of one of their locations. After years of seeing this I thought it would be worth trying them out.
The entrance to the location in the City. I really should have got a shot of how insane it was outside and inside, regarding the amount of people waiting for their quick fix of carbs.
This is the salad and sandwich section of the restaurant. The queuing system here is almost impossible to comprehend. I understand that they want to fit as many people in here as possible but it ends up being a total mess. It gets worse when you have the pushers trying to get in front of you, which is about 50% of all Birleys enjoyers.
This was the sandwich I got, I never put prices on here as they change so frequently nowadays, but almost £8 is INSANE. As you can see its certainly not £8 worth of quantity, and it wasn’t close to being worth that in flavor either. Don’t buy (or bite) into the hype here, it is not close to worth it.
Conclusion – Birleys
If you are the sort of person thinks that anything less that £8 a sandwich is beneath you, then you deserve Birleys and Birleys deserves you. Just know that when you walk out, they don’t think that is someone who has done well for themselves, they look at the back of your head and try not to laugh as you walk out.
